  Nicholas Kalaitzandonakes

Dr. Nicholas Kalaitzandonakes is Associate Professor of Agribusiness and the Director of the Economics and Management of Agrobiotechnology Center (EMAC) http://www.emac.missouri.edu/ at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He teaches management and strategy classes focusing on innovation, firm networks, and decision methodology.

Over the last five years, Kalaitzandonakes has published articles on the economic and environmental impacts of biotechnology; its impacts on the structure of the agrifood supply chain; the influence of industrial and science policies on the evolution of the agrifood biotechnology industry; and on issues of public acceptance and risk communication. In addition to biotechnology, he has conducted research on the agrifood industry in respect to competitiveness and strategy. He is increasingly applying this knowledge to farmer-owned agribusinesses.

Kalaitzandonakes is also the Editor of AgBioForum, http://www.agbioforum.org and an editorial board member for several academic journals. As an active consultant and educator he has worked with U.S. and international public organizations, industry organizations and agrifood companies on biotechnology strategy.

He received his B.S. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Athens and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Florida.
